Learn to make pizza in a wood burning brick oven
With our Umbriacooks4u Pizza Party, we give you the opportunity to sink your hands into flour and water and to discover the art of kneading dough. While the recipe for pizza dough is basic, the fun that follows is a prescription for a multifaceted afternoon of fun.
You will be surprised at how you learn to handle that dough! You’ll soon be feeling like a Pizzaiolo di Napoli (pizza man from Naples). We provide just about anything you’d want to put on a pizza -- from peppers and mushrooms, to capers, anchovies, ham and sausages. Every one of you can top and season a pizza exactly the way you’d like it. (And remind Nonie to tell you the story behind Pizza Margherita.)
We introduce a few variations of the white pizza very common in Umbria. One is seasoned with sage and onions; another with rosemary and salt, and another with potatoes and cheese. We’ll show you how we prepare the brick oven outside Tita’s hom. For that, we usually call the expert, Signor Piero, Tita’s father. He’s always delighted to show you how he builds up a fire in the oven and how he decides when the oven is ready.
